Holiday Shopping
So after 40 years of always saying I’m going to get my shopping done early…this year it’s happening and of course I’m doing it online. Â It’s actually been a lot nicer to waste time surfing online figuring out what to get and being able to take advantage of free shipping, or regular shipping because I’m doing it early enough and really get things that make sense.
My son (gee…good thing he’s too busy and I’m too boring for him to read any of this) is a perfect candidate for Restaurant.com because he likes to take his girlfriend to nice restaurants but is a starving student so it’s hard. Â Restaurant gift certificates that I save up to 70% are perfect…besides they are both two young to drink so even with appetizers, entree, and dessert it’s not too bad.
My roommate (she’s too busy skyping her boyfriend to read this) would love either a gift cert to have her babies (Patches and Sam) photo converted to a painting or …actually I could do a Restaurant.com as well because she goes out to restaurants everyday for lunch.
AS3 Flash Physics Engine Box2DFlashAS3 2.0.1
This is on my “to do” list. I have a few projects that I could use this on.
RYZ Wear
RYZ was founded by a group of ex-industry sneaker geeks who invites anyone to design the perfect pair of shoes. They’ll produce the most popular designs, sell them around the world, and share the profits with the designer.
They feature different “theme” design contests from COLOURLovers to Magic. You just download the template and submit your design. The community votes and the chose a winner.
Current Competition: Make It Gold

I’d love to put this on my “things to do list“
Online Graphic Design and Editing Tools
Aviary.com is a online graphic design and editing tool that currently has the following tools available:
In Beta release:
- Phoenix, layer-based image editor
- Peacock, visual laboratory for creating amazing effects and visualizations
- Toucan, color pallette coordinator
For Alpha testing (only available to members of the Blue plan):
- Raven, vector editor
- Talon, Firefox extension that allows users to perform screen capturing.
I haven’t tried it yet but it’s on my list of things to do.
A 60′s Theme Graphic Design
In creating a 60′s theme project there are lots of resources to get ideas and tools. For example, Fontspace.com for free 60′s style fonts and 123freevectors.com to find a colorful background mixed with some additional period graphics I was set to go.

Another great Illustrator tutorial that I found was Re-creating 60′s poster type at Adobe. I was able to use Adobe Illustrator to make cureved shapes and used the envelope feature to distort and enclose the text.
I need to add this 60′s graphic as a Product – this goes on the “to do list“.
